WORK – RINGS
A ring needs to be in harmony with the bearer in order to be a piece of jewellery that is worn often. How the bearer uses their hands is fundamental in determining how discreet or exuberant a ring can be in a given situation. At the same time the hand is an incredibly beautiful place for jewellery, a part of the body that is used to express and communicate so much, despite, or thanks to, its distance from the face.
Rings are the pieces of jewellery I most often make on commission. This is usually because of size and stone preference or the client has a special reason for ordering a ring. Marriage is one reason but more and more often I make rings as a manifestation of other important events, not least when the client wants a reminder of their own worth in the shape of a present to themselves.
The ring is a piece of jewellery that can be enjoyed by the bearer in much the same way as the onlooker and being worn on a finger at a distance from the body is part of the rings symbolic value.
