ABOUT

Åsa Lockner, contemporary jewellery maker established 1999: My work is often a collage where I pick up traces and use parts from earlier projects, layered and applied, to test my reasoning. Ovals, drops, stones and pierced metal serve as components of a puzzle used to achieve a balance between the discordant, asymmetrical and twisted. Discovering harmony and beauty in a piece of contemporary jewellery demands a broad pallet of material samples. To learn more about my process, please contact me here.

”Beauty changes, breaks down and is reborn. Perfection can no longer be believed in. The 20th century Scandinavian dream of the perfect land with ergonomic seating, super-sonic aeroplanes, the pill and shatter-proof porcelain has eroded and evaporated.
Åsa Lockners art does not require perfection from the wearer, on the contrary her jewellery relates to the body, protecting it and says that change is as it should be, that mortality is beautiful”
