WORK – JEWELLERY – OTHER
Jewellery Other, what is that?! Well, among other things it’s the jewellery that I find to be the most difficult to make, the bracelet for example. Our hands are among our most active body parts and large flat forms loosely hanging at the wrists can both strengthen or impede our freedom of movement. The bracelet is more affected by gravity and activity than other jewellery and while a bracelet can be incredibly elegant and visually striking, having it bouncing around there at the end of an arm is always a consideration. Despite these challenges, I still make a bracelet once in a while.
Few pieces of jewellery offer the same potential for experimentation and create such an instant impact on the viewer and the brooch is the most popular piece of jewellery used for the dissemination of a personal opinion or group identity. Among prominent media figures the brooch has become a favourite, think about Madeleine Albright and Queen Elisabeth II.
